Im a Brit living in Spain teaching English because thats all I could find over here. I like it though. I also upload my worksheets on ISL Collective, normally a day or two after I have done so here. br You can order my books by pasting this into the browser: https://www.amazon.es/Dale-Bates/e/B08QD5M5PQ?ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1&qid=1613573760&sr=8-1

Alternatives to Say: Indirect Speech
A short worksheet and basic game to help students find alternatives to the word "say" in reported speech. They should all work with the sentences that are given, but you will need to explain that the verb "announce" is normally used for giving news to people.

Alternatives to Saying Wonderful
A short exercise in the form of a dice game that looks at synonyms for the word wonderful. I did this because I still have students that have the idea that "terrific" is a negative adjective, no matter how many times I tell them it is not. This can also be linked to non-gradable adjective exercises.

Alternatives to Very
Pre-intermediate levels for teachers who are fed up with their students say"very" all the time. A nice little dice game for them to practice the different ways of saying it and a few, short explanations of the vocabulary and usage. Extra examples can be added every class until they are comfortable with the alternatives.

American and British English Noun Snap
This game can only be played with even numbers. If you have a group of odd numbers then you should join in the game to make up the numbers. Print out the cards and laminate. For a game of two players just give them a pack of 1 colour (blue or red) each. Groups of four shouldnt be a problem. Players put their cards in front of them face down...

Analogies Card Game
A short warmer for those whose students come in dribs and drabs to their classes. Basically, students have to pick a card and then have 5 seconds (or 10 if prefered) to complete the analogy. For example, board is to teacher as exercise book is to (hopefully the answer will be student). There are a couple that are a tad ambiguous (ocean is to sea a...
