WITH-A -LOT- OF-WORDS/ADJECTIVE TITTLES ....confussing eh!

Good morning Fellow teachers!!          ( well here it s 10am)

I need your help this time, I always have problems to translate these BIG Tittles with a lot of words as adjectives from English to Spanish and even to understand them in English. For example:

Waste Management Inspection Tracking System

Environmental Quality (DEQ) Waste Management Division

Is there any hints to be able to understand them? Can anyone of you translate these into Spanish or explain to me the meaning. Maybe I need to group them and get the meaning part by part. I really need a hint.

I appreciate your help greatly.

As far as i remember my syntax course at university, you ARE supposed to group them, or you re lost! Smile Hmmm .... i have no idea what the text that followed the title is, but i would group the words like this:
((waste management) inspection) (tracking system))

Maybe someone else will have a different solution...
As to the translation, i dont know about your language, but we would start from the end towards the beginning of the NP (noun phrase).

In your first title "system" is the main word/noun. All the rest refers to it. Although they are not all adjectives, they are working as such so you should go backwards to find the meaning: Sistema de rastreo/control ( de inspeccin ) de manejo de residuos ? It all depends on the context.

The same goes for the second one.

Yayyy, thanks so much, I ll start grouping them. I love translating, but this kind of long... phrases drive me crazy. I used your suggestions and yes you are both right. I am pretty this works like this>:

Sistema de rastreo/control de la inspeccin de manejo de residuos

thank you!!!

So.. just to check if I imrpoved, is this correct?? :

Department of Environmental Quality  Waste Management Division

"Division del manejo de desperdicios del departamento de calidad ambiental "

Mmm...Are you sure it is all one title?

Department of Environmental Quality  Waste Management Division

It sounds more like two, one within the other:

Departamento de Calidad ambiental: Divisin Manejo de desperdicios/residuos

I agree with Tere, there is one within the other, you have to split them up

Department of Environmental Quality  Waste Management Division
would refer to
The Waste Management Division of/in the Department of Environmental Quality

whereas
Waste Management Inspection Tracking System
would refer to a system for tracking waste management inspections .

I hope that makes some sort of sense!

& good morning to you!
