You need to take into account the topics you have covered during the term and whether you want to consolidate the learning and also topics you �ll be covering the following term. The homework can be set to give them a taster/preview of learning to be covered in the next term. It also depends on the age of your students. You might pick up some ideas here.

I can �t recommend sites, but I did a great project with many of my students.  Ages 11 - 16.
The project was on Endangered Species.  It went really well.  The students looked up in the internet and printed and pasted photos.  It was great.
 
I recommend this to all who want a topical project. 
 
I made groups as well.
