Balance of account or Statement of account?

Dear teachers.

Can you help me, please? When you refer to the amount of money you have in your bank account, do you say "balance of account" or "statement of account"? I ve seen both terms, though "balance of account" is written in an old book I ve got at home, so I wonder if the term is old-fashioned and has been replaced for "statement of account".

Thanks in advance for your help!

The bank sends you a statement every month, and you use the statement to get you account to balance. When you get you account to balance, it means the checks and deposits you entered your checkbook balance with the amount of money you have in your account (according to the statement they sent you).

The "balance" is the amount in your account... You ask for a "statement" to see what your "balance" is. Or the bank sends you a statement (usually monthly) telling you what your "balance" is.
