And we can use: The country became independent from France in 1960.
                           This organization is independent of the government.

Hello, how are you? The verb "dream" is used with "about". For example, "I dreamed about a famolous place last night."
However, there is an expression: "wouldn �t dream of" means : would never do something because you think it is wrong. For example, "I wouldn �t dream of stealing money."
