HELP! I have a stupid doubt on negation

Hi there!

I feel very shameful but I have a doubt and I m sure you can help me!

What s correct / not correct in the following sentences?

There is no television in my room.
There isn t any television in my room.
There are no TVs in my house.
There arent any TVs in my house.

I think I m starting to bug on some very simple sentences, I m appalled!!

Yeah teaching English to elementary students can make your English a bit rusty at times...

Hi,
If you are talking about one single TV, as it is a singular countable noun, you should say There isn t a television in my room.
If you are talking about several televisions, you can say either There are no TVs or There aren t any Tvs.
I hope it helps.

Hi

All the sentences except There isn t any television in my room are correct. We use any in negative sentences with plural and uncountable nouns. Television is singular and countable so the sentence is incorrect. The other three sentences are correct.

Hope that answers your question!

Hello!

The only wrong sentence is this one: There isn t any television in my room.
You have to use ANY+plural countable noun.
It is not possible at all ANY+uncountable or ANY+singular noun.

I hope you see it clearer now.

I agree with Lindsey. Use "any" with plural or uncountable nouns.

There aren t any TVs in our house.
There isn t any milk in the refrigerator.
