How do you pronounce the third person singular, present simple of the verb change? changes /z/ or /iz/

we pronounce iz when we add (es) to the verb for example washes but when we add only (s) we pronounce z but here we pronouce it iz because there is e original in the word.

That �s not quite a complete answer, youness, because many words that end in "e" use the /z/ pronunciation when they add "s". For example, like + s = likes  (with /z/, not /iz/). It depends on the consonant sound before the final e.
