something that usually works with my students is that you are Sherlock Holmes and they are Dr Watson in your grammar investigations. They are looking for clues and evidences, coincidences and so on to understand the new point. Make them explain what they suppose, deduce, understand... These detectives may be surprising... and of course interesting for further lessons and interested in a new way of seeing analyses of exercises, texts...
