I m correcting my students compositions and I m not sure about some sentences they wrote.

Do we say: "He lives on the Planet Earth like us" or "He lives on Planet Earth as we do"

Can we say "to do an event"?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dina,

I would say "like us" & "to host/hold an event".

Both are correct. They have slightly different meanings though.

like us - would imply that he lives here on Earth with us just as another person or animal might.

like we do - would imply that he lives on Earth "exactly" as a human does. He eats with a fork and knife, sleeps in bed, etc.

Or at least that is what it implies to me.
