I believe Cely might �ve had a little interference from Spanish. "Como" can mean either how or what.

Dear friends somebody asked if it �s ok to say "how do you say "_ _ _" in English?". Well, I was constantly corrected during my teacher trainning course by my teachers. They �d say the correct way to ask for a certain word in English is "What �s the English for "_ _ _ "?"

Were my teachers correct? or Are both expressions accepted?
