What detective s name comes to your mind when you think of detectives?
I need it for an ice breaker to be used in a 5th grade (students are 10 year old). Their mother tongue is Spanish; they learn Italian at school. This is the first year they are going be taught English Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

Several dear,

Exbrayat s characters in books : Romeo Tarchinini (the Veronese detective for who all death is due to love...) and Miss Imogene Mc Carthery (the Scottish single retired woman who worked at the Admiralty in London) very bad tempered

Agatha Christie s characters : Hercule Poirot (the Belgian man always well-dressed) and Miss Marple (the single old woman who is able to gather so many clues and information).

Of course Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr Watson.

The famous TV ones : Columbo, Kojak for example.

There is a very adorable one : Rex, the detective dog in an Tv Austrian series.

Hope this will be useful.

How about Precious Ramotswe from the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency in Botswana (Alexander McCall Smith)? Inspector Rebus from Edinburgh (Ian Rankin) or Aurelio Zen from Venice (Michael Dibdin)?

There are also medieval sleuths like Brother Cadfael (Ellis Peters) or Matthew Shardlake (CJ Sansom)?
