Hello, could you help me, please. What should I use with the word rivet- do up, fasten or clip. May be it should be absolutely different word. Thanks a lot in advance:-) :-) :-)

You usually don �t do anything with a rivet because it is hammered on a steel
girder or into the material of jeans or pants.

this is a rivet:

Perhaps you �re thinking of snaps or eyelets that you lace up through the holes?

Sheets of metal are permanently riveted together.
 
Press studs are done up.
