Here s a game I used when I taught kindergarten.
Sentence pattern: How do you go to school? I go to school by ____. (show flashcard)
~ All children sit in a circle.
~ Call 2 children who are sitting nicely to the front.
~ Ask: How do you go to school?
~ Both children answer according to the flashcard shown: I go to school by ____.
~ The teacher chooses the best answer (could be the best pronunciation / loudest / fastest)
~ The other child sits down.
~ The winner can either:
1. Teacher holds out a playing card, face down, and says red or black ; child selects a colour. Teacher turns over the card; if the child guessed the correct colour, he/she gets a 2 stars / high 5. If not, only one star for giving a good answer.
2. Throw a large sponge dice. Before he/she throws, he calls high or low (high = 4,5,6; low = 1,2,3) or odd or even (odd = 1,3,5; even = 2,4,6) if the child was right, 2 stars / high five, if wrong, just one star for giving a good answer.
Reward all other children who sat nicely / quietly by putting a star next to their name.
