do we have to use the contractions for "either"
so " i am not, either" is right or wrong?

Using contractions here is more normal, but there �s nothing wrong with the non-contracted form in this case, at least to my ears.

I agree with MoodyMoody. The contraction isn �t required, but is far more common, at least in the US. Your example sounds very formal.
