do the washing-do the washing up?

Hi friends! I am confused about these phrases: what is the difference between doing the washing and doing the washing up . One means washing the dishes and the other one means washing the clothes but I don t know which one refers to which meaning? Thanks a lot in advance!

Do the washing = do the laundry = wash the clothes.

Do the washing up = wash the dishes.

Thanks so much Mohamedthabet and Cunliffe. I knew the phrases as you explained but an online dictionary confused me. It says the opposite. I am sure now I am right not the dictionary :)
