Which sentence is correct? A DOCTOR WORKS IN A HOSPITAL. or THE DOCTOR WORKS IN A HOSPITAL? (I mean doctors in general.)

A DOCTOR WORKS IN A HOSPITAL or Doctors work in hospitals.
"The doctor" means a particular doctor. |

DOCTORS WORK IN HOSPITALS. GENERAL MEANING.
THE DOCTOR- MEANS YOU WERE PREVIOUSLY TALKING ABOUT A DOCTOR IN PARTICULAR.

On a work sheet on professions you could say a doctor works in a hospital, a teacher works in a school, a secretary works in an office etc.
or you could say doctors work in hospitals, but usually when defining where a professional works, we use the singular (a doctor works in a hospital). |
