Use of apostrophe

A group of African children writes a letter to a school in a rich country thanking them for a donation. If that school is St Joseph s  Girls school, and the children just put, Thank you to St Joseph s girls.... Is that OK? Or do we really need the apostrophe? Should it be Thank you to St Joseph s girls, or Thank you to St Joseph s girls ?
A lot is riding on this!

If you do not add the defined word (school) the apostrophe seems extra, obviously...

If they are thanking the girls of the school, then it is correct without the Bruce

Thank you guys. The situation I outlined has happened. The African kids sent a lovely letter, but, blow me, I was asked to stick an apostrophe in before I could show the letter. I said No! .
