Double present perfect?

Double present perfect?

Which one would you rate as correct (or maybe both)?

a. What has been the biggest challenged you have confronted?
b. What has been the biggest challenged you confronted?

Or maybe another form? Thanks in advance

I would say:

What is the biggest challenge you have confronted?

Option a) sounds correct to me. Both situations take place up until the moment of speaking, therefore the present perfect is the correct choice.

I agree with Gi2gi  . You should focus on the experience , that is , "confront" ( not closed, more to come ...) , that´s why it goes in present perfect

I agree with the others. Usually, though we face challenges.

Rhys already pointed out the adjective use of challenge - challenged. Gigi s missed an explanation and good ol Lynne gave us the proper expression with face . So what s been the biggest challenge I ve ever faced? Let me think about that and I ll get back to you, hey?Peter On second thought, I might say "What was the biggest challenge" for being a particular point in the past, "I have ever faced?" because Im scanning my brain, hence the addition of the word ever.

I would have thought "challenge" was a noun here?

In any case, as a native British speaker, I would say:  "What is the biggest challenge you have ever faced?"
