The dictionary says yellower http://www.learnersdictionary.com/definition/yellow.

I would never say yellower... For me, something is always more yellow.

Yellower is correct. It sounds a little odd, but it is the correct form of the adjective.

yellower like narrower

Sounds a bit odd, as Zora has already said.

YELLOW IS A SHORT ADJECTIVE THAT CONTAINS TWO SYLLABLES AND ENDS IN "OW" . IT AUTOMATICALLY ENDS IN "er"  IN THE COMPARATIVE .                    HAPPY TEACHING

Two syllables adjectives enfing in  "   Y  -  OW "  add ER  / EST.

Yellow - yellower - yellowest
Narrow - narrower  - narrowest.

For me, they are equivalent. There is no absolute rule for 2 syllable adjectives that are in comparative and superlative forms.

Heres a good littlelink to a page that outlinesthecorrect rules.

Cheers,
AB
