I have a pupil who will participate in a speech contest. She has to deliver a 3-minute speech about the topic of pollution.
i have no idea how to prepare her. Have you got any helpful ideas?
Thanks in advance

Hey! It depends on how much English she knows. But first, provide her with all the necessary information about pollution and let her build her own opinion. Then make sure she knows the basic structures of the language, for this topic I think just present simple and future simple will do. Also practise reading and then saying her opinion about different topics. I don t know how much time you count on to prepare her, but I think you should work hard on the structure of sentences and pronunciation. Be sure she knows how to think in English.

Hope it helps!

This rubric shows some of the things the student should be  focusing on when giving her speech.  https://www.rcampus.com/rubricshowc.cfm?code=E62A76&sp=yes&

http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/printouts/oral-presentation-rubric-30700.html is another rubric. the recommend "Provide students with several examples of oral presentations before they plan and execute their own presentation" and assigning the student to use the rubric to evaluate the examples.
