I think that this article -from the BBC- may be simple enough to explain the goals of the methodology with some interesting details (simple and, in my humble opinion, clear enough)

If not I will try (if I cannot go to work due to the snow) to explain in my own words.

Hello,

Maryse s link is very good.

In a nutshell, CLIL is teaching a subject other than the target language through the medium of the target language.
You will find lots of examples of how it is put into practice in UK schools here: https://www.all-languages.org.uk/tag/clil/

You can also integrate CLIL ideas into normal foreign language lessons. The idea is to let pupils discover new facts through the medium of the target language. So rather than using superlatives to describe the tallest/shortest/fastest person in the class (they already know this), you can teach the formation of superlatives through geography (highest mountain, deepest sea etc.), biology (fastest land mammal, heaviest fish etc.) or history (bloodiest battle, king with most wives ...).
