I would especially avoid using "photo shop." We use the term Photoshop to mean digital alteration of photographs, from the program Adobe Photoshop. English being English, we use it not only as a noun but as a verb!

Portrait studio is used in advertizing for photographers who take professional pictures of families or individuals such as grauation pictures, wedding pictures, head shots for models, etc..
