Impersonal passive voice

Good morning everyone!

I m correcting a grammar exercise - impersonal passive voice/ rephrasing:

The correct answer for "Someone reported that the situation was under control"  is The situation was reported to be under control.

However, a student of mine wrote:
à  The situation was reported as being under control.

Would you consider this answer correct?

Thanks for you help.

In my humble opinion, the correct answer should be The situation was reported to HAVE BEEN under control. You have to use perfect infinitive because the verb of the subordinate clause is in the past.

Anapereira - I like your student s answer. It is certainly correct - the passive part is The situation was reported . The situation was ongoing, as the report was made, so that construction ...as being is good.
