Countdown Worksheet.
This is a worksheet that I use to play the game "Countdown". Basically, divide your students into teams. They must choose 9 letters (there must be a minimum of two and a maximum of 3 vowels. There are a number of random letter generators on the web that you can use.) Give them an amount of time depending on their level to come up with some words using only those letters. Award points to the team that thinks of the longest word.
The numbers game - again randomly generate 6 numbers (between 1 and 100) One of the numbers must be over 50. Then select a random target number between 150-1000. The students must use the numbers selected (only once) to reach the target number.
It is a good idea to pre teach and drill vowel, consonant, plus, minus, multiplied by, divided by and equals.
