All About Coral Reefs
This set of worksheets is a lesson plan that includes the short essay on Coral Reefs, finding new vocabulary, comprehension questions, a section on the Main Idea and Details, some drawing, and a Honeycomb Web for learning Writing/Story structure.
I attach two pages of lines, one for a rough draft and one for the good copy.
My students know how to use a dictionary, even the young ones, and they find unknown vocabulary and write a simple definition. We all discuss the words, then they read the story and we discuss this. From there I teach how to a story is structured with a main idea and details, and the use of a Web to build a story. They begin to plan the story with a drawing, and then they build a web and begin the rough draft.
Sorry to be so detailed. A note about the format, page three is in landscape format to make more room for the drawing, and the other pages are portrait, so donīt worry if it seems odd. Hope you enjoy this.
