I find thisactivity great for the first day of class. Students stand up and mix, asking each other questions to find someone who says yes to complete the squares. This role play requires three groups - a group of residents for the car ban, a group of residents against the car ban and a group of local politicians. The groups prepare and present their arguments to the local government, who must provide a solution. Great speaking activity for lessons about environment, healthy living, transport etc.

I usually si...

Compose a song / poem
This is a set of rhyming word groups from which students compose a song or a poem. These word groups introduce new vocabulary and are used as a guide (I let students add other words if they like). They work in small groups and compose a song or a poem which they then read to the class. My students love this.
