the Mom song
I loved doing this with my students. It can be used with the video on You Tube with a woman singing this in an opera fashion to William Tell Ouverture. It concerns family, it is perfect for teenagers, pure grammar in disguise...It is pure joy to listen to her and teenagers really get a kick out of it...

STARDUST - who said what?
Here is another one of my Stardust wss. This one deals with quotes from the movie with two corresponding reading-writing tasks. My sts love doing who said what as follow-up, we play it as guessing games in teams, and it really helps vocabulary retention, even their intonation of sentences.

This is part 3 of 3 projects Im posting today. This one deals with countries, and its the basis for a classroom project in which you get your sts to actively use English and learn about different countries. Its a combination of language, geography and basic culture. It includes several pages of ideas, and its designed as a longer activity. Your...

HOW PREJUDICED ARE WE?
Talking about prejudice with your students - it pays to dare! This is a detailed, several-pages-long lesson plan for several lessons, with discussion, listening (Free your mind by En Vogue) and reading/writing activity, based on a very contemporary text. Im definitely planning to use it with my FCE grous in the autumn. If you decide to do it, pls ...

This is a lesson plan(with Rapunzel text included) for detailed reading activities. Mary Poppins
Who would have guessed modern kids would love Mary Poppins?! Just goes to show you never can tell until you try. My elementary students loved the movie, the songs, the worksheet, the movie word games... They all tried to snap their fingers to tidy up their rooms, too (it didnt work though)... If you try this, please, let me know how it went.

THE FISHER KING - detailed movie follow-up
This is a wonderful movie to do with advanced sts (I did it with FCE and CAE groups), because its funny, serious, normal and twisted - just like any other Gilliams movie. Its not new, so they probably havent seen it, which is great, because you can watch it part by part, and keep them guessing. At first they are a bit confused(with Robin Willia...
