How long ago did it happen ?
i use this as a transparency. First, the pupils need to guess what the picture is about using the simple past, then they need to ask a question using "how long ago..." and guess an answer. I usually divide them into groups so they have a small competition to be the closest to the correct answer. Then, we check the answer.

What a mess !
My pupils always love this activity. Its a bit like a very simplified version of "wheres Wally / Waldo ?". A father is coming back home and the pupils must find the different objects in the picture that need to be tidied up before hes back...
I use a transparency and an individual copy for each student so that its easier for them to follow.

Reading an email
Hi there !
A reading comprehension : looking for specific information. Its an email (well, not a real one, I made it up) and the pupils need to know if the information is given or not in the email (but as its pure reading, I do not even ask them to write anything, they tick, cross or put question marks).
