Short and Long Vowels Rules
This is an introductory guide to knowing when the vowel sound in a word will be short and when it will be long. It explains the rules words normally follow. It also gives some pointers on how to pronounce words which have 2 vowels in succession (priest, eight, clean etc). There are word examples which you can drill or have students read aloud.
