Creative Writing Activities, Part 1 - Poetry
The 1st half of a ppt presentation on Creative Writing Activities I gave at the TESOL Ukraine conference. Poetry based, it shows how to do Acrostics (4 variations), Cinquains (2 methods), Haikus and Diamond poems.
These are completely adaptable to age, level and theme.
All the examples all use the theme "travel" and all the examples are authentic--all were done by Ukrainian students. The Diamond poems shown go from basic to more advanced. Basic: Ss were told to follow the formula. Intermediate: Ss were instructed to make sure it was clear which noun their words were describing. Advanced: Ss were also added the instruction that their poem must be entirely symmetrical, including ideas.
My students and teachers seem to love these. I hope your students do as well!
