CAN YOU? Extensive speaking practice with homework
Itīs a speaking exercise designed to drill "can you..." for abilities.
Procedure:
Ss work in pairs or groups of 3.
First, each Ss works indivudually and completes the table about him/herself and the partner(s), choosing one of three possible answers: 1) Yes, very well; 2) Yes, quite well; 3) No, I canīt.
When the table is completed, they start asking the questions e.g. "Can you ride a make a cake?" For each correctly guesses answer, S gets a point.
At the end, they count the point to see who knows their partner best ;)
You can extend it with the Homework Sheet - description of a partner.
Also, I suggest asking Ss to prepare 5 similar questions ("Can you dance cha-cha?" etc.) - youīll have a great warm-up activity for the next lesson ;)
