Fortune Teller Speaking Activity
These are speaking activity cards intended to study future tense. They can be used from intermediate to advanced learners, especially teenagers enjoy this activity very much. Here are the instructions that I followed, they will be helpful, I think.
T says: "Have you ever been to a fortune-teller? (If they have) Has it become true? (If they have not, the teacher will talk about predictions made in her fortune.)
Now, imagine that you are fortune-tellers and clients. Let’s form pairs. Number ones will be fortune-tellers, and number twos will be clients.” She hands out the cards. “Go through your cards. You have 5 minutes to speak according to the information in your card. If you cannot understand anything, please ask.”
On the fourth minute of the pair work, the teacher says “You have one minute. Please wrap up your ideas.”
While Ss are speaking, the teacher walks around the Ss.
After they have finished, the teacher asks: “So, what have you learned about your future? Is there some interesting event in your future that you’d like to share?” She elicits some answers from the students for a couple of minutes.
