the farm school - an African poem
In this lesson plan, students will realize how difficult education is in South Africa.
They will learn about a popular South African poet named Mzi Mahola, and an anonymous poem sung by children on their way to school.
These poems are the starting point for supplying information about African schools and to debate on their bad conditions.
While Reading
T hands out to Ss photocopies with the poem ‘The Farm School’ by the South African poet Mzi Mahola (WORKSHEETS 5-6) .
