English worksheet: The First Eight Amendments The First Eight Amendments

This is an activity that is designed to teach students the first eight amendments to the constitution. Each amendment is broken into parts and has a concise definition for each part. To help the students to define each word, you can create a simple power point with a picture to represent each part. Using the picture you provide as well as their understanding, students can create a picture representation of the parts of each amendment. Finally, ask the students to work in groups to create a hand signal to help them remember each ammendment. For example, the students can hold one finger to their mouth to represent the first amendmentīs gaurantee to free speech. Or for the second amendment (the right to bear arms)students can use two fingers to create a gun. Only the first eight are listed, because this is the portion of the bill of rights that makes up our civil liberties.
