Predicate Agreement – BASIC AGREEMENT RULE
When intermediate-level English students speak, sometimes they tend to not say the “s” at the end of the words. This can be due to not fully understanding the rules of agreement and required associations. The basic rule of agreement for all sentences is: A predicate must agree with its simple subject in number and in person. The predicate always includes a verb, and that verb must agree with the simple subject. If the predicate also includes a pronoun that refers to the simple subject, that pronoun, too, must agree with the subject.
