Scientific method to teach English Scientific method to teach English

This is a lesson I did a long time ago in a small high school in ShanXi province in China. Pre-teach the vocabulary Tell the students that the class will be doing an experiment in the classroom and you want them to describe what they see happening. Follow the instructions listed, I like using paper towels for this experiment they work better. The results of the experiment will show a rainbow of colour dragged up the page by the water. First, do the experiment yourself in front of the class. Then walk around the room showing the students the results of your experiment. What colours do they see? What happened to the ink? Next it is the student´s turn, bring a few bottles of water and cups to the class so the students can try. Tell them to try different types of ink. Do they make different colours? Which ink works best? Why is that? Put students in groups and have them think about what makes all the colours on the paper. I find that this lesson works best for elementary students or high school.
