Theme: French Fighter Jet incident 2020
Language outcomes: vocabulary (to take off, to land, landed, helmet, withheld), use of past tense (stressed, parachuted, pressed, thrown), large numbers (2500)
Learner level: Advanced ESL – young adult/adult. This program can be adapted for B2 students by breaking the activities down into smaller components or removing some sub-tasks.
Additional support will be required for B2 students. Consider providing authentic images or realia to further develop understanding (image of a parachute, a real bicycle helmet, a smartwatch, provide a ball to throw around the classroom).
Authentic material: The newspaper articles included in this program are authentic. This is a true story that occurred in the north-east of France, in April 2019.
