Interview game: Interview game:

NOTE: I designed this worksheet so that you get 2 worksheets on one page to save paper! Just cut it in half before the second name/date/class line. I made this worksheet to function as a part of an interview game I have my students do to practice asking the question, Do you have a..?" and being able to respond with "Yes I do/No I don´t". First I teach them the dialogue, have them repeat, and then I do an example with their Homeroom teacher. The students will be interviewing one another about which food items they have in their fridges at home. The jist of them game is, student A asks the question and if student B responds with a yes to a particular item he will write his name on student A´s paper under the appropriate food item that he has in his fridge at home. If student B responds with "No I don´t" to a particular item student A can move on to the next food item or they can simply part ways and find others to interview, very simple. The students get to practice writing (their names, especially if their native language doesn´t use the English alphabet), reading, speaking, and listening in this game. I included items that are easy for most of my students to recognize and I teach the English names if I need to. This game should take about 7-10 mins depending on the size of the class and what level of English the class is at. I use this with my Elementary school 6th graders so they have already had a previous year of English activities. Since I teach English in Japan I have included "Natto" (fermented soybeans) since it is a common food item eaten across Japan. It is known for its strong smell and taste which is similar to rotten eggs. If you´re not comfortable using the word Natto, you could simply call it soybeans. Depending on which part of the world you teach in students might not know what it is, so it could be an interesting tibit to include in the lesson.
