| | Speaking Practice 1st and 2nd conditionals
Hi! This activity was designed for very confident pre-intermediate and intermediate adult students. Considering that the grammar topic might be simple for them at this level, the idea is to get them to talk about it, they will decide if the situation presented is likely or unlikely to happen to them by using the correct language, in this case 1st or 2nd conditional. An example response I got from one of my intermediate students: "Move to another country mmhh, well I love my country so Its very unlikely to move but If I moved to another country, I would move to Spain because Its in Europe and they speak Spanish." For this student the situation of MOVING to another country could only happen hypothetically so this is what is being expresses. For another student it may be a possibiliy and so in order to communicate that, the 1st conditional should be used. Hopefully, they use conditionals naturally and with a communicative purpose.
