English worksheet: PHONICS - Flower Words 10 - Short U-sound PHONICS - Flower Words 10 - Short U-sound

These phonics flashcards are part of a whole set for all 5 vowels. I have copied them on paper of different colours. Green for vowel A, red for vowel E, yellow for vowel I, blue for vowel O and brown for vowel U. This way you also separate the sounds of the vowels visually for the primary students. You may want to distinguish the paper colour of each vowel a little further as to distinguish between short and long vowels in particular. You may choose dark green for the LONG A and light green for the SHORT A; dark red for the LONG E and light red for the SHORT E; dark yellow for the LONG I and light yellow for the SHORT I; dark blue for the LONG O and light blue for the SHORT O and finally dark brown for the LONG U and light blue for the SHORT U. Whatever means you choose, these flashcards are great to reinforce the phonics and give the student the lifting feeling of having mastered the trickiest parts of the phonics. Btw, my 2nd graders are able to read them all and they enjoy doing so big time even if they donīt know what they are reading there!!! :)
