SLANG EXPRESSIONS: SONG RED LIGHTS INDICATE DOORS ARE SECURED by the Arctic Monkeys
This is both a reading and listening didactic sequence that I used with my upper intermediate and advanced students and, they loved it soooo much! They were able to learn and develop awareness in socio cultural aspects, as well as learning slang words and expressions from the lyrics of this song. As they went through the guided activities, they were able to understand quite well very complex bits of language, which I think produced a great sense of achievement on them.
Explanations for the teacher are provided at the end. I hope you enjoy doing this activity with your students as much as I did.
