English worksheet: Teaching the /ed/ ending Teaching the /ed/ ending

This is a simple exercise to teach the pronunciation of the /ed/ ending used with the past simple. Explain the rules, with an emphasis on the last category (/t/ and /d/) then ask students to go through the list and place each word in the correct category. When they have finished that, ask them to read the words from each category in order to hear the same sounds in each group.
