							Make a word
This is the beginning for any number of activities. Each group gets all the vowels and the letter X. The rest of the letters are distributed by frequency of appearance (chart included) so that the group that has the most frequent letter also has the least frequent letter and so on.
1st: put students in 5 groups
2nd: Give them about 15 minutes to write as many words as they can.
3rd: have each group write their words on the board.
4th: Here you can make it a writing or speaking exercise or both.
I usually have them write sentences using ONLY the words on the board - I add "the, I, you, he, she, and, or, etc." or have them write a story or a short play depending on ability level, interest level, time of day and how close it is to Spring Festival!!
