English worksheet: Holidays, Festivals and Celebrations in the World and in Argentina Holidays, Festivals and Celebrations in the World and in Argentina

Holidays, Festivals and Celebrations in the World and in Argentina This activity intends to become aware of international and national (Argentinian) holidays, festivals and celebrations and to practise asking for and giving information about dates. This activity can be a springboard to group discussion, to research on what people do to celebrate them and to compare and contrast national customs with those in other countries. Firstly, the class is divided into two groups. One group deals with international celebrations and the other with Argentinian ones. Students have to match the month cards to the Festivals and date cards. This tests their knowledge of their country and of the world’s customs. Once the first stage is ready, Students transfer the data onto the chart under the corresponding columns. Secondly, they can mingle with people from the other group to find out and exchange information. Sample exchange A: What do we celebrate in December in Argentina? B: Tango Day. A: When (exactly) do we celebrate it? B: On 11th December.
