the objective is to revise 4 verb tenses previously learnt. The students work in small groups and have to match the sentences with the verb tenses. I usually use flash/cue cards with the names of the verb tenses. At the same time I also use other flash cards with sample sentences. I recycle this material /sentences according to their interests, national or international events- nothing fancy. They have to write the sentences under the correct heading and eliminate the rules that do not apply. The same has to be done with the time expressions. This can be used as a starter or follow-up. I have noticed that the group work does work for the weaker students as they have to think about contents and rules, which they don’t when they need to write .
