Writing - part 1 (5 marks)
Below an outline of how marks would be distributed for essay outline.
Thesis statement – stating point of view and written in 3rd person – 2 marks
Body para 1 – topic sentence – 1 mark
Body para 2 – topic sentence – 1 mark
Body para 3 – counter arg – 1 mark /refutation – 1 mark
Concl – re-statement thesis - 1 mark
Supporting points – in body paragraphs- (2 marks)
Writing part 2 – (15 marks)
Introduction (3 marks)
General statement funnelling to more specific statements
Clear thesis statement
Body (3 x 3 marks per paragraph)
Arguments consistent with thesis statement
Clear topic sentences
Strong supporting sentences
Counter argument (2 Marks)
Clear/well considered
Conclusion (1 Mark)
Re-statement of ideas/ fanning out to a general statement
Level:advanced
Age: 14-17
