Surveillance : facebook and social networks
Here is an excerpt from a newspaper article I used in a unit on "surveillance societies". I started with the trailer and an extract from "1984" by George Orwell and then moved on to today´s society. This text is on surveillance through social networks and the consequences some actions can have on one´s life. The comprehension activity is followed by a quick role play in which students have to give their opinion about social networks and surveillance. If the students had difficulties with Orwell´s text, they really liked this one.
