Word Race Game worksheet

This is a fun review game. It uses questions that are normally taught at elementary level of English. However, questions can easily be changed to what you need to review. This is a Team game - teams of 6 people work best...but you need ideally 3 or more teams!...Teams can either sit in rows facing the board, or in groups (desks together). Each student is given a question worksheet (This download has 2 worksheets on 1 page - so remember to cut in half!!!) There are 10 questions - students must write an answer for ALL questions (For this game, one word answer is OK - not sentences) - give them a time limit Whilst the students are writing the answers - divide the board into sections and write the team number (or name) at the top...and write from top to bottom (for each team) A-J Next, give each student a number in the team (ex. 3 teams of 6 people... EACH TEAM has players with the numbers 1-6!) Then call a number at random (or roll a dice) the student, from each team, with that number must run to the board and write their answer. The winner is the 1st team with a DIFFERENT answer to the other teams - 10points. Bonus points - the team(s) who have the same answer as you - 5points (make sure you answer the questions. The game is not complicated! Basic instructions are included in ´step 2´ on the worksheet! I´ve played this with all ages...for beginners - use categories (sport, animal, color, food etc) (sorry, this is in american English - be sure to check if you are teaching British English!)
