MINIMAL PAIRS - PRONUNCIATION PRACTICE
I teach adult learners in Beijing, China. The accent in northern China is much different than southern China (I also taught in Shanghai for 2 years.) This sheet requires Student A to read a list to Student B. Student B will write the numbers of the words that are a like in separate columns. For example: If the listening student thinks that words 1 and 3 are the same, then he will write 1,3 in the first column. If he thinks 2 and 4 are the same, then he will write 2,4 in the second column. I´m sorry it isn´t prettier! I´m very new to this site and not so grand with graphics. But the lesson is effective and I´ve used it with a few different levels. The words on this list primarily address issues with the Beijing accent, but the list is easily modified to address accent issues in other parts of the country. I hope you find it helpful!
