Receptionist Interview: Modal Verb Practice
In this closing activity, the students will work in two groups to play a game. One group of students is tasked with finding all of the uses of “can” and “could” to show ability. The other group is tasked with finding all the uses of “can” “could” “may” and “might” for polite requests. The teacher will write two headings on the board, one for each group—“can” and “could” for ability and “can” “could” “may” and “might” for polite requests. The students are allowed five minutes to find all of their words. A team leader will then tell the teacher which words go in the column for their group. If any answers are missing, the other group has an opportunity to supply those answers.
